About me
Hi, my name is James, I am 21, and I’m a graduate from the University of Cambridge, where I read history at Homerton College. I am currently taking a year out after my studies, completing various part-time jobs, as well as tutoring. Next year I am going to undertake a masters at the University of Edinburgh in Late Antique, Islamic and Byzantine Studies. After this I hope to become a teacher.
My interests include fitness, sports, reading and music. At university I was heavily involved in the college boat club, as well as football team. I play the guitar, and I am currently teaching myself how to read music, alongside learning the piano. I am greatly interested in classical history, philosophy, and mythology, and will probably try to tie any life lesson back to a Greek myth!
I have been tutoring for the past seven months in English literature and language from GCSE to A level. I feel that my skills as a tutor lie in communication and trying to directly address each individual students’ needs. I also like to create an environment where students feel comfortable to express their own ideas, in fact I would actively encourage my students to disagree with me! I am very excited to meet you and get started.
