About me

Hello everyone! My name is Maddy, I’m 21 and I am a recent graduate from the University of Cambridge. I have a degree in Natural Sciences, specialising in Psychology and Neuroscience, but I also have A* school qualifications in History, Art and Languages. These qualifications have given me a well-rounded bank of knowledge. I speak English and Italian fluently, as well as French to a high standard.
I have tutored and mentored pupils ranging from 7-18 years old in a variety of subjects. After volunteering as a Primary School assistant, I discovered my love of education, and began to enrol in tutoring and mentoring schemes both within my school/ university and externally. As a tutor, I am enthusiastic, creative and very patient! I prioritise a student’s confidence and self-believe, encouraging them to find the fun in learning and to constantly challenge themselves. I once tutored a Chemistry GCSE pupil who was very low in confidence, and, by focusing on building her confidence, I helped her increase her grade from a B to an A*! I take great care in tailoring my tutoring to each pupil, adjusting for academic level, personal interests and any required special assistance.
In my spare time, I knit soft toys and dolls which I sell online! My drive and ambition with this project have brought in orders from all over the world, which is very exciting. Last year, I also worked closely with a charity which focused on increasing cancer awareness in young people. This was a brilliant opportunity for improving my leadership and communication skills, as well as allowing me to contribute to an extremely important cause. In the future, I hope to work in Communications, ideally related to science in education.
Thank you for reading about me and I look forward to getting to know you!
