About me

Hi! I'm Tim and I recently graduated from Trinity College, University of Cambridge, studying Economics. I was born and raised up in London, but my parents are from Hong Kong. At school, I achieved 2 A*'s (Maths and English Literature) and 2 A's (Economics and Geography), and an additional A in AS Further Mathematics. For my GCSE's, I received 12 A*'s and 1 A. In terms of teaching experience, I have taught Maths, Business, and English as a foreign language. I have been a part-time tutor since August 2019, mainly teaching English to students aged 7-14 in China. This involves improving their speaking and grammar and preparing them for assessments. In 2018, I ran tutorials for students aged 15-21 at the G5 Finance Camp in Guangzhou, China. This involved explaining the basics of business and finance, while improving their English. I then led them to a presentation competition in which we won. It was very inspiring to see the improvement in not only the students’ English and business knowledge, but also in their confidence to speak and contribute. I believe there is a massive difference in a teacher's knowledge and their ability to teach. Throughout my education, I've experienced a wide range of teaching quality and I'm extremely passionate about tailoring teaching styles and methods to suit each individual student. I gain huge amounts of satisfaction from seeing progress and I aim to make lessons as interesting as possible! I can speak Cantonese and my hours are extremely flexible.
