MEng Chemical Engineering
About me
Hi, I’m Joanna and I am a student at the University of Cambridge studying Chemical Engineering. For my A Levels, I studied Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Economics and achieved 100% A*-A in these subjects. In my recent end of year exams, I attained a first class and was ranked 4th in the year at Cambridge.
Since 2017, I have tutored students on a one-to-one basis at my local homework club, volunteered with a new online tutoring initiative to help students severely affected by the global pandemic and privately tutored several students online over the summer months. Through these roles I’ve developed my expertise in tailoring my approach to how a student learns best and have subsequently enjoyed seeing them reach their potential.
During sixth form, I was the team leader on a 6-month long engineering project, which entailed creating and modelling a technical solution to a real-life problem - the project received the ‘Engineering Project of the Year Award’. While at university, I train with the Cambridge University Athletics Club and have had the positions of Junior Treasurer 2020-21 and Athletics Captain for my college. These experiences grew my appreciation for the importance of soft skills such as teamwork, communication, accountability, and leadership.
